Tattoo Observations

DINNER CANCELLED
By Bob Van Leer

(CABO SAN LUCAS, Mexico, July 17, 2006) – The steak dinner was called off. It was to be on an open sided patio and Cabo had one of its three day per year days of rain and the restaurant couldn’t handle it.

To put it into perspective, it was such a heavy rain that it only rained on one side of the hotel. In Gold Beach it wouldn’t even be counted as a rain. We dined inside and played cards on the patio for the rest of the evening.

Sunday was our last full day at the resort and the swimming pool got a workout. One thing I noticed at the pool is that tattooing is back, far more than I would have thought. About as many females were tattooed as males, but their tattoos were smaller. I noticed one couple, both tattooed, that had two girls about 9 and 12 years of age, and both of the girls had tattoos on their backs.

Grandson Rob and a number of others went parasailing today. A boat tows a parachute with a passenger strapped in it. Takeoff and landings are from the boat. The passengers never even get wet.

Monday, the party was over. We all headed for the airport at San Jose. The Canadian delegation left the hotel at 7:30 a.m. and we were left before noon. Our plane was to leave at 2:04  p.m. but was a little late. All of the U. S. delegation except my sister, June Pallardy, took Alaska Air to Portland. My sister took American to St.Louis.

There were no problems on the return trip. Betty and I stayed in Portland Monday night and drove home Tuesday. All in all it was a good party.

I like the marlin photo. How long is a marlin of that weight? Do you use any bait to catch them?
